No “family” plans.
Without families to sign up with, our classmates were looking at expensive individual options, often more than twice the price of group rates.
No access without U.S. credit history.
Without established credit in the U.S., most plans were inaccessible. Years of establishing credit abroad were no help as foreign credit history does not transfer.
Understanding the differences across plans and providers was difficult and frustrating. More than 60% of university classmates surveyed cited hidden fees or billing issues requiring hours of customer service calls for an overall negative experience. (2019)
